The COVID-19 nightmare continues. Lockdown 2.0 in India is in full force but the curve is yet to show signs of flattening. Lives lost, employment affected, economies of even powerful nations on the decline – you name it. Amidst the sufferings, there are some silver linings in the corporate world though. Digital Marketing institutes like ours and many other companies have been relentless to stay afloat and find new avenues of helping out customers in whatever way possible. Tweaking the old adage – “Necessity is the mother of  i̶n̶v̶e̶n̶t̶i̶o̶n̶  innovation”, most of the regular activities are being attempted online.
In response to the lockdown – implying total travel bans, institute closures, and social distancing recommendations to limit the spread of the virus, a large number of corporates have turned to digital tools to keep some semblance of normality.
Read on to know how various business entities are defying all odds and fast-tracking digital transformation in this emergency situation.

Work from Home

This is the talk of the town now. The coronavirus is causing more people to work from home than ever before. Generally speaking, mostly “knowledge workers” such as digital marketing executives, IT managers, financial analysts, accountants, etc. can efficiently work from the comfort of their homes. This is because such professionals do not need complex hardware to impart their services. They just need a decent personal computer, basic office stationeries, and a stable internet connection to get their job done.
When it comes to team co-ordination, a host of apps like Zoom, Google G Suite, Skype, Facebook, etc. are making online team meetings and vid-conferences easy.  One unexpected outcome of COVID-19 is that companies would finally realize the benefits of fast-tracking digital transformation.

Training Going Virtual

As COVID-19 spread in India schools, colleges, and training institutes were shut down promptly. But many institutes, including digital marketing institutes, like ours, switched to online training to make sure the lockdown does not affect academics. Virtual learning through online training is anyway popular these days and has a very wide reach.

Events Going Virtual

Along with many in-person conferences being canceled worldwide in response to the COVID-19 outbreak, some are switching them to be virtual events. The first conference to cancel due to safety concerns was the Mobile World Congress 2020, the annual gathering of electronics makers.
Google Cloud Next ’20 became Digital Connect and promised that what once was a three-day conference to be a “free, global, digital-first, multi-day event” that would use the Next ’20 content. Collison, the fastest-growing tech conference in North America, was another conference that turned to virtual as Collison from Home—the in-person event got postponed to June 2021.
Tech companies such as Xiaomi and OnePlus have already launched or set to launch their latest devices including the much-hyped smartphones through live-streaming online. Previously such events always used to be scheduled in brick-and-mortar auditoriums with hundreds of people invited.
